Up for maintenance
Posted on May 25th, 2008 by Roland Krause in BlogsThe old blog layout was perfectly OK but there was no way to maintain it any longer. Here is a fresh start that still requires tweaking. May you be happy with your blog design and may your never fish for new Wordpress themes in that big sink hole. Use Kubrick. Aren’t we all using feed readers?

Nice theme!
I spent a lot of time on my theme, but then I discovered feed readers (I’m using NetNewsWire), and now most of my what I read comes directly from the feed reader. Since then, I have ignored improving my theme.
Still, I find that I sometimes go directly to the blog pages to get more information.

Hear, hear. I’m stuck in an old, buggy version of K2 because I’ve tweaked it and don’t have time to re-implement my hacks in the updated version. I thought I’d be all smart and use subversion, but they changed so much stuff that it’s no help at all.

Few Wordpress themes enjoy lasting support, and many have glitches. My old theme was advertised as “widget ready” when it as obviously not. Not that widgets seem to be a particular usable addition, as half of the sidebar elements don’t work under the scheme. Worse than that is that there seems to be no good way of finding working themes - it’s all swamped by piggyback sites with no contribution whatsoever. I hope I have missed some important site out there that deals with the matter on a half-way professional basis.
